This is What Normal Looks Like

This is What Normal Looks Like

Give the gift of normal and put a smile on a child’s face.

Everyday GAL Volunteers and Case Managers see first-hand how difficult life is for children who have been placed in the foster and dependency system. Removed from their homes for abuse, neglect and abandonment, these children have so much going on around them and circumstances that are out of their control. It can be hard to adjust. We not only want to be the voice for them to ensure their safety, but we want to help make the entire process easier for them by providing necessities that are “normally” provided to other children and families. Daily items that can be hard to come by once in the system, like car seats, strollers, clothing, shoes, school supplies and even toys, and payment for extra-curricular activities. The goal of Normalcy Programming is to give them a reason to smile, fit in, and feel somewhat normal by providing them with the simple things that a typical childhood includes.

GALF has long been providing Normalcy Programming for our youth. Our goal this year is to raise further awareness leading into our No Place Like Home Event and to launch a full campaign initiative for Normalcy on November 4th in time for Holiday Giving.  In the meantime, donations can be made through our website under our “donate” tab and giving to Children’s Greatest Needs.  Look for more exciting updates regarding this program in the near future.  In the meantime, if you have interest in supporting this program in any way, we welcome your involvement.
