The Empowerment Scholarship City Grille Reception
May 26, 2023
The Empowerment Scholarship committee held a reception on May 11th at the City Grille & Raw Bar. Guests enjoyed cocktails, light appetizers and had the opportunity to experience one of Jacksonville’s newest hot spots all while learning more about our scholarship program in support of our youth as they set out to pursue their dreams. This event is part of a series to bring awareness to The Empowerment Scholarship (TES). Our goal is to spread the word among organizations and groups working with potential applicants and to educate potential donors on the opportunity to Empower, Advance and Lift Up our youth. Special guests attended the evening including the Arrowsmiths, whose generous support helped establish the scholarship with GALF. We presented success stories of recipients, including one who achieved all A’s on her latest report card and is thriving in college. Events like this allow us to expand the reach of this program to potential donors and community partners as we present the impact they can have on a young person’s journey to a brighter future.
To further our reach with TES, Nidhi Every (TES Committee Chair), Lin Pomeranz (GALF Executive Coordinator) and Princess Evans (Administrative Assistant and Liaison for The Empowerment Scholarship) also recently shared this program with potential candidates at Family Support Services’ Youth Advisor Council. Each attendee was offered an application to complete for consideration.
Our Empowerment Scholarship was created to offer support that helps to fill the gap between other monies paid toward tuition and total expenses incurred during college years. This program is another way we demonstrate our dedication and support for these young people as they step out into the world to make their mark.
